Aklanon Int’l fashion icon hold show at Greenbelt

KALIBO, Aklan – London-based Aklanon fashion designer Lesley Mobo will be the star of the “Bravo Filipino Festival†at the gallery of the posh Greenbelt 5 in Makati City tomorrow (March 27).
The solo fashion show featuring the designs of 29-year-old Mobo is being sponsored by the Ayala Group as a tribute to Philippine artists – dancers, musicians, designers, sculptors and painters.
It is also supported by the United Kingdom (UK) brand Jasmine De Milo where Mobo is the head designer.
Mobo, an Outstanding Aklanon Awardee in 2006, said the event is directed by his friend Ariel Lozada.
The show is one of the main events, and the only solo presentation of the Bravo Filipino Festival. He is expected to feature his “Matavenero collection.â€
“Matavenero is an eco-village somewhere in Montes de Leon, Spain. People there are called ‘new tribes’ or ‘people of the Rainbow Gathering.’ I was attracted by the simplicity of their way of life and how they embrace nature. It’s a back-to-basics philosophy,†said Mobo who counts Hollywood starlet Paris Hilton as one of his clients.
Mobo received a Diesel award for his “Obesity in the North Pole†collection in the 2004 International Talent Support (ITS) competition.
