AMS will be given three major awards:

• Most Outstanding Component Medical Society Category V — first prize

AMS officers will also receive recognitions:

These awards were disclosed in a letter signed by Dr. Elizabeth Del Rio, chairman of the Committee on Awards; Dr. Oscar Tinio, secretary general; and Dr. Jose Asa Sabili, PMA president.

Dr. Cynthia de la Cruz, AMS president, said these awards are primarily due to AMS’ “Cool Earth” project. It is a local environmental watchdog that aims to lessen the impacts of global warming.

“Cool Earth” has the backing of the Philippine Science Journalists Inc. – Kalibo Chapter, Northwestern Visayas College of Mass Communications, Philippine Army and several organizations.

The awarding ceremony will be at the Manila Hotel on May 24, 2008.
