A Walk Down the Aisle
By Nilo I. Murallo
Everytime I do a wedding video documentary, I got a fresh look at life. As a budding wedding filmmaker, I realize that every wedding event is a unique, intimate, and sacramentally blissful occasion God has made in order to dispense His Grace not only to the new couple but also to their respective families as well. And thus, it is worth documenting!
Marriage is an occasion which opens new doors of significant sociological and spiritual metamorphosis for the new couple and their respective families; the bond and unity emerging from the nature of the vocation to married life which gives birth to the consumation of God’s salvific act through human history — the bride and groom being God’s channel of His life and His love.
It is not just the marriage of the bride and the groom; it is fundamentally the union of the family of the bride and groom as well. It is not just the journey of the bride and groom through life; it is also a new journey through life of the new couple’s united family which started in a solemn “walk down the aisle”.
It was on the 8th day of March 2008 at around 10:00 o’clock in the morning at the St. Joseph the Worker Parish Church in Numancia, Aklan. Xandro Zapatos and Mylove Pelayo exchanged their wedding vows, ” to love and to hold… for better or for worse… in sickness and in health…’till death do us part” in the presence of Rev. Fr. Vincent Cajilig the officiating priest who solemnized their marriage.
The solemn marriage rites was attended by their parents, close relatives and friends.
Xandro is the eldest and only son of Am and Jeavie Zapatos of Libacao, Aklan.
Mylove is the youngest and only daughter of Teresita Sualog-Pelayo and the late Teofisto Pelayo of Buruanga, Aklan.
Their wedding was graced by the presence of Mayor Charito Navarosa of Libacao, Mayor Antonio Maming of Banga and former mayor Quezon Labindao of Buruanga as among the principal sponsors.
It was indeed a beautiful day worth remembering by the new couple because despite the unabated rains and heavy downpour the days prior to the occasion, their wedding day was blessed with good weather and a sunny day.
It is a sign of good favor from God — a sign of a productive, fruitful and happy married life ahead of them. Xandro and Mylove, called by God to the noble vocation of married life, has started the multifaceted journey of a lifetime! We wish you all the best that married life could bring!
