BORACAY – An FM radio station here has launched its “love search” anew now that Valentines Day is fast approaching.
Allan Palma, station manager of YES-FM Boracay, said their Valentines gimmick is to lure in residents, tourists and workers to this island and “find their soul mates.”
“We want this Valentines date to be institutionalized by our radio station since we also want to promote Boracay Island as a love destination every,” Palma explained.
“Since last year, we have been inviting young single men and women to join as our searchers for love. We are screening them to become searchers,” he said.
This year, Palma said they have chosen four single individuals – two males and two females – to find their soul mate through phone calls.
Every Saturday and Sunday, from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight, the searchers receive phone calls from those interested to be his/her soul mate. The searchers ask the callers personal questions to determine if they are the “one.”
To impress the searchers, callers sometimes have to crack jokes, sing songs and do other gimmicks, Palma said.
He said the DJ serves as the moderator to the conversation of the searchers and the callers.
The searchers are then required to pick their “soul mate” from the callers whose identity will be withheld until their date on February 13, a day before Valentines Day.
On February 13, the four searchers will meet their “soul mate” in a special Valentines date organized by YES-FM.
Stakeholders here support the gimmick by providing the food and flowers, among others for the special Valentines date.
Palma disclosed that the searchers and winning callers will also have a free makeover from their sponsors to ensure that they will be “attractive” on their Valentines date.
