KALIBO, AKLAN- A group of Filipino Overseas Workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has to monitor its members against A/H1N1 flu as part of the precautionary measures.

Leon Magpusao of Ibajay, Aklan in his email cited that the Ro Akeanon sa Saudi Arabia (RASA), which has a regular Friday meeting, has now started to monitor the health conditions of its members to help them prevent and detect early the new strain of influenza.

“Our life here is still normal despite the AH1N1 scare. We do not wear masks or gloves as our protection. Nevertheless, we seek each others welfare. No one among us here is suspected to have been inflicted with the A/H1N1 flu,” said Magpusao.

RASA is being headed by an OFW head nurse in the KSA Mary Jane Tupas who is a Blas Ople Awardee in the year 2007.

RASA has actively implemented several programs and projects in the province. It is also instrumental in introducing the annual Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival in the KSA.

“Last March 6, we had undertaken the ‘Pabayle ad pa Rira sa Saudi Arabia’ activity for us to finance certain projects in the province,” Magpusao added.
