KALIBO, Aklan- The dead body of United Nations volunteer Josie Gabor Esto was expected to have arrived in the country Wednesday night for burial in her hometown of New Washington, Aklan.
Families of Esto said that the local council of New Washington has already prepared to pass a resolution declaring her as a local hero.
Esto was killed when Taliban gunmen stormed the Bekhtar Guest House in Kabul’s Shar-e-Now District in Afghanistan being used by the UN and other international workers.
Report said the victim was working on her computer when the Taliban attacked her office.
She is the 4th Filipino UN staff member to die in terrorist attack.
Esto is married to a resident of Libacao, Aklan with whom she has two children, aged 14 and 11. Esto is also breadwinner of her family.
Upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Wednesday, she was to be transferred to the Kalibo International Airport and will then be brought to a local funeral parlor Thursday morning.
Her family said they will be placing streamers as welcome for the beloved they consider as a hero.
