KALIBO, Aklan- The provincial government of Aklan has activated its advocacy against Influenza A (H1N1) flu down to barangay level, few days after the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the pandemic alert level from 5 to 6 just recently.
Through its provincial health office, all barangay health workers of the province 17 municipalities were briefed about the A/H1N1 concern over the weekend, said Dr. Victor Sta. Maria.
“The orientation was conducted in coordination with both the national and regional offices of the Department of Health,” said Sta. Maria.
Speakers on the said orientation urged barangay health workers to monitor possible cases of A(H1N1) flu in their respective barangays and immediately report it to the nearest health facilities in their areas.
Earlier, Aklan Governor Carlito Marquez designated an isolation room at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH) as the province’s preparation for possible incidents of swine flu.
Local media were toured inside the facility to emphasize the message that they are ready for possible cases of swine flu in the province.
