BORACAY – Despite lacking a thermal scanner at the Caticlan and Kalibo international airports, this resort island and the province of Aklan remain free from the Influenza A H1N1 virus.
Malay Mayor Ciceron Cawaling said he has alerted health officials to be vigilant against any possible cases of H1N1 in the island.
“Some stakeholders have addressed their concerns for possible cases of AH1N1. So far, we do not have any case recorded in this resort island but we must always be vigilant,” he said.
The two airports have direct flights from other countries like Taiwan and South Korea. Arriving passengers are given thermal strips to check their temperature. So far, no one has been reported of having been quarantined for exhibiting flu symptoms.
The island is prominently being visited by foreign tourists due to its powdery white sand beaches and clear waters.
