KALIBO, Aklan – Governor Carlito Marquez welcomed the P50-million Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project III (ARISP III) of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
Marquez said ARISP III is funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
It is just one of the many projects intended for the province after a recent bicameral conference in Manila approved the extension of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) for another five years.

”The program is currently in validation stage and will be implemented in Malay, Buruanga and New Washington,” the governor said.
The project involves the construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure such as irrigation system and farm-to-market roads.
According to DAR, 20,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries from 15 agrarian reform communities in the province benefited from CARP. The old CARP also implemented various infrastructure and livelihood projects worth P200 million in the province.
Among these are the 29 farm-to-market roads spanning 79.6 kilometers, nine irrigation projects serving 2,535 hectares of rice land and three bridges.
