Monitoring council probes RPA-ABB
KALIBO, Aklan – The Joint Enforcement Monitoring Council (JEMC) under the Office of the Presidential Assistant on the Peace Process is investigating two suspected Revolutionary Proletariat Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) members for the shooting of a British businessman here.
Retired Police Major Paquito Saratiosa, chair of JEMC-Aklan, identified the two as Warlito Andrade of Brgy. San Isidro, Ibajay, Aklan and Michael Bastes Jr. of Davao City.
Saratiosa said the RPA-ABB may have violated its peace agreement with the government.
Andrade, however, insisted that they were not in Kalibo when the shooting took place.
“We came from Malinao, Aklan. My relative, former Malinao Councilor Pacifico Tabing Jr., was ambushed by unidentified suspects. We are investigating the case,” Andrade said.
That they surrendered peacefully at a checkpoint in Brgy. Pudiot, Tangalan is proof of their innocence, he stressed.
A .45 caliber revolver and .9 mm caliber handgun were recovered from the two
