Police urged to guide tourists to safety

BORACAY – Businessman Jose Macavinta and Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Clarence Guinto urged local tourists police here to always smile, be respectable and bring the tourists to safety.

This was stressed by Macavinta, who is also the vice president for Internal Affairs of the Boracay Foundation, Inc., during the pinning of the ranks to newly-promoted policemen Tuesday afternoon.

He emphasized that the police is a significant stakeholder in promoting the resort island as a tourism destination by ensuring peace and order.

“You are called tourist policemen as marked in your uniform because you have an additional privilege compared to other policemen in the country. You must always be reminded to provide necessary information to tourists whenever they ask for directions in going around the island and ensure their safety,” Macavinta said, who was invited as guest speaker during the ceremony.

Guinto, on the other hand, commended the Boracay Special Tourist Police Office (BSTPO) for a job well done in keeping the resort island safe through out these years.

He said the positive feedbacks that his office receives thru text messaging from the stakeholders and media should encourage more the policemen to perform their duties better.

“I also would like to remind you of your primary obligation which is to prevent crimes and if crimes could not be prevented, place extra efforts in bringing the perpetrators behind bars,” added Guinto.

The BSTPO is headed by Supt. Arnold Ardiente who is also receiving positive feedbacks from the stakeholders and residents of the resort island.

The police officers who received their promotion during the pinning of ranks were SPO3 Herminiano Abines, PO3 Randy Ramos, PO3 Ariel Estoya, PO3 Reynold Galicha, PO3 Richmon Camon, PO3 Arnel Raut-Raut, PO2 Ariel Naral, PO2 Christopher Mendoza, PO2 Jackson Jaoud Jr., PO2 Cyrus Alp Parce, PO2 Conrado Espino Jr., PO2 Alberto Espinosa Jr., PO2 Eugene Magallanes and PO2 Barry Legaspi.
