KALIBO, Aklan- The Aklan provincial government is currently coordinating with the Department of Education (DepEd) for the holding of the annual Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) this year here.

Dr. Mary Ann Lopez of the DepEd said the program will be held in the Calangcang Sports Complex in Makato, Aklan which is still in its construction process.

The WVRAA is scheduled on March 14 to 19.

“Several games will be played in Makato while others will be held in Kalibo, Aklan. We expect that thousands of participants coming from different provinces in the region will be joining the WVRAA,” she said.

The Aklan provincial government funded last year some P80 million fund in cooperation with the Aklan State University for the project.

The sports complex is being considered to be the center of sports in the province.

According to the Provincial Engineers Office, the sports complex is already more than 80 percent completed and would be finish its construction in time.
