KALIBO, Aklan – This Ati-atihan town serves as a pilot area for the “Larolympics” in partnership with the Anak TV Foundation to be held on June 20-21 this year.
Kalibo Mayor Raymar Rebaldo said that the Anak TV Foundation has chosen this town as the pilot area because it is a forerunner of child-friendly programs and projects.
The Larolympics was designed to bring them back to the playground for more healthy and uplifting activities geared towards their well-rounded development.
“We fully support Larolympics because recent data show that our younger generation are now hooked with television and computers. They spend most of their idle time just sitting without any interactive activity,” Rebaldo said.
Alongside Larolympics, this town will also host for the second time, the Anak TV Seal screening in its thrust to help recognize and promote deserving television programs that are wholesome and family-oriented.
A surprise celebrity is also expected to attend the event.
The Larolympics will have two divisions namely Chickiting Division for children ages 7-10 years old and Bagets Division for ages 11-14 years old.
They will compete on games such as Patintero, Piko and Tumbang Preso.
